Treon Harris receives national honor

The 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour will visit Booker T. Washington on Thursday to select quarterback Treon Harris to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The Tornadoes will honor Harris before their teammates, classmates, fans and family during an assembly.

The five U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour teams travel across the country from late September to mid-December to announce all 90 players and 125 marching musicians to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and log a combined 30,000 miles.

The U.S Army All-American Bowl will be played at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Jan. 4.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Doctors Charter defeated Hollywood Christian in straight sets 25-19, 25-22, 25-12.

The Hawks dominated their Broward County opponent from the beginning and did not drop a set.

Allison Yao registered 16 aces, 13 assists and five kills for the Hawks, and Jessica Riley added 11 aces, seven kills and four blocks.

Brittany Magloire also stepped up for Doctors Charter as she accumulated five kills, five blocks and five aces.

After taking down the Eagles, Doctors Charter improved its record to 12-4.

ELSEWHERE

Florida Christian made the short trip to Monsignor Pace and edged out the Spartans 25-23, 25-28, 25-20.

The Patriots were led by Brittany Beckelheimer’s 10 points and six kills. Natalia Tohme added 10 points and seven kills.

While Veronica Gomez registered 13 assists, eight kills and six points.

Florida Christian improved to 14-8.

Miami Christian took down Princeton Christian 25-17, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22.

Cassy Duenas led the Victors with 15 assists, nine kills and five aces. Mellissa Gonzalez registered 11 kills, eight assists and four aces, and Andrea Sinclair added six kills, two aces and two assists.

Miami Christian is 12-7.
