Late touchdowns give Varela homecoming win over Reagan

After a scoreless first half, the Vipers (4-2, 2-0 District 15-8A) were able to score two second-half touchdowns and pick up a homecoming victory against the Bisons (3-3, 1-1) on Friday at Tropical Park.
Both of Varela’s touchdowns were scored by sophomore Christopher McWilliams. His first score came on a 7-yard pass from Darius Flowers and gave Varela a 7-6 lead. Late in the fourth quarter McWilliams scored on a 61-yard run to help clinch the win.
Reagan’s Immanuel Pierre scored on a 2-yard run early in the second quarter to give the Bisons a 6-0 lead. Pierre finished the game with 35 carries for 180 yards.
McWilliams led Varela with 86 rushing yards. Flowers passed for 42 yards and rushed for 12 yards.
