Carol City senior quarterback Trayon Gray scored four touchdowns as the Chiefs beat North Miami Beach on Thursday at Traz Powell Stadium.

Tied at 14, the Chiefs (4-2) outscored the Chargers (2-5), 27-7, in the third quarter to break their homecoming game open.

Gray, a University of Miami commitment, fueled the 12-minute span with a pair of 60-plus-yard rushing touchdowns. He collected 126 yards on the ground and added another 94 yards and two scores through the air.

Junior running back Rondell Ellington rushed for a pair of touchdowns and 122 yards on just three carries as Carol City extended its win steak to three.

Senior wide receiver Kenny Lewis scampered for a 44-yard touchdown in the third. Junior defensive back Edward Roole returned a fumble 16 yards to cap the scoring in the fourth.

Quarterback Cedric Wiggins finished 22 for 39 with 310 yards and four touchdowns for North Miami Beach, which has lost three in a row. Both Immel Rai and Steve Ishmael caught a pair of touchdowns for the Chargers.

Before halftime it was the Chiefs playing catch-up, answering both touchdowns drives by the Chargers.

“Electrifying, elusive playmaker,” Carol City coach Aubrey Hill said of Gray. “Giving credit to the kids, they wanted to play tonight. They came out and played well. Trayon played well. The offense played well. Hats off to the coaches. Trayon was obviously the player of the game.”
