Despite an early ejection of Ermon Lane, Homestead (4-2) rolled past Palmetto (2-4) at Harris Field on Thursday.

After an early touchdown catch, Lane was playing defense, trying to punch the ball out of the runner’s arms, according to his coach Larry Coffey, when officials ejected him for the punch.

“We have no idea what happened. Hopefully, the tape is going to prove that he was just trying to punch the ball out. The official thought he punched the kid in the head,” Coffey said. "We’re going to have to go through the appeals process now since he was ejected."

Coffey could not see the play from where he was on the sideline.

Lane, the University of Florida commitment, is facing a minimum one-game suspension, depending on the appeal.

After that, the Broncos rolled, led by Antonio Calloway with two touchdown receptions and one interception return for a touchdown.

Maurice Alexander also threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns.
