Gulliver spoiled Edison’s homecoming with a rout over the Red Raiders on Saturday night at Curtis Park.
A fast start, propelled by two first-quarter touchdown runs by Gulliver running back Mitch Davis, gave the Raiders the early edge and put Edison in a hole too big to climb out of. Davis finished with 127 rushing yards on just six carries, 90 of them on two touchdown runs.
By halftime, the game was out of reach as the Raiders (6-0, 1-0 , 15-5A) won the district opener for both teams.
“It’s the real season now, this is where it counts,” Gulliver coach Earl Sims said. “This win gives us the confidence to keep doing what we’re doing.”
The Gulliver defense forced three Edison interceptions and held the Red Raiders (1-4, 0-1) to just two first downs in the first half. Edison accounted for only 9 yards passing on the night.
