Varela might still be running after tearing up the grass in Tropical Park during a 46-18 victory against Ferguson.

The Vipers (3-2, 2-0 15-8A) amassed 468 rushing yards in the victory.

“That was our identify last year, and it is our identity this year,” Varela coach Carlos Mollinedo said. “That is what we have to do. It is the old Varela football.”

Anthony Guevara totaled 184 yards on 11 carries, and Christopher McWilliams had six carries for 124 yards. Guevara and McWilliams each had two scores in the victory, with three of the four runs of 75 or more yards.
