G. Holmes Braddock students volunteer in Miami-Dade Coastal Cleanup

G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School recently participated in the 26th annual International Coastal Cleanup with the Miami-Dade Coastal Cleanup organization. Students helped clean the beaches and marine areas in order to preserve the habitats.

Participants included JP Locayo, Jonathan Lopera, Naomi Cabrera, Maria Paneque, Thays Martin, Alicia Pei, Breanna Ramirez, Mina Cash, Abel Arbelo, William Rodriguez, Erick Rodriguez, Roger Sanchez, Marcos Rodriguez, Alex Roja, Carla Laus, Scott Medina, Alejandro Ubals, Deyra Suarez, Jessica Delgado, Salome Cano, Ivan Plan, Ana Dominguez, Destini Fernandez, Maria Garrido, Arlet Bombino, Jonathan Alonso, Margarita DelValle and Claudia Alfonso.

CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

The National Hispanic Recognition Program recently recognized several Christopher Columbus Senior High School students for their performance on the Preliminary SAT exam.

The scholars are Andrew Biz, Bryan Diaz, Andres Levy, Carlos Montalvan, Owen Parr and Alejandro Ramirez was the honorable mention.

HAMILTON COLLEGE

Kelly Watts, daughter of Angie Watts in Miami Beach, recently became a first-year student at Hamilton College.

Kelly graduated from the School for Advanced Studies.

MIAMI COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL

Miami Country Day School recently hosted the inaugural Model United Nations Conference with Coral Reef High School, Christopher Columbus Senior High School, Oasis Charter Public School, Cape Coral Charter School and Archimedean Academy.

The conference included meetings for students to engage in debates, decision-making and discussing international conflicts. The meeting was moderated by the University of Miami’s Model United Nations students.

BELEN JESUIT PREPARATORY SCHOOL

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School will be fundraising for breast-cancer awareness during the month of October. The school will be hosting the Battle Like A Wolverine 5K event at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the school, 500 SW 127th Ave., in Miami.

SCHOOL FOR ADVANCED STUDIES

The School for Advanced Studies will host two information sessions for students interested in becoming a part of the dual enrollment program.

The first session is at 9 a.m., Saturday, at Miami Dade College’s north campus, 11380 NW 27th Ave. The second session will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, in the auditorium at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, 300 NE 2nd Ave.
