The Blanche Ely boys basketball team (22-0, USA Today Super 25 No. 12) got a game-high 16 points and seven steals from Tournament MVP, Javon Heastie added 15 points and Diandre Wilson (11 points) had two game-clinching steals to beat previously undefeated No. 15 Cardinal Gibbons 69-63 for the BCAA Big 8 title, keeping alive its bid for an invitation to the DICK’S Sporting Goods High School National Tournament.

Chloe O’Neill, St. Thomas Aquinas, girls’ soccer: O’Neill scored two goals to lift the visiting Raiders over Miami Lourdes 3-1 in the Region 4-5A Finals.

Dominick Gibson, Cardinal Gibbons, wrestling: Gibson won the 120-pound weight class to help the Chiefs defeat Coral Springs 37-20 for the Coral Springs Duals III title.
Brittany Defran, Coral Springs, cheerleading: The senior captain help lead the Colts to the Class 2A state title (small non-tumbling Division) with 81.75 points.
Jose Morales, Cardinal Gibbons, boys’ basketball: The Princeton recruit had a game-high 28 points, including five of five from three-point range, in a 69-63 loss to Blanche Ely in the BCAA Big 8 championship game.
Trevor Walsh, St. Thomas Aquinas, boys’ soccer: Walsh made a key save in the penalty kick shootout to lead the Raiders over Dr. Krop 3-2 in the Region 5A quarterfinals.
Sandro Noel, McArthur, boys’ basketball: The 6-7 forward scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half and had a game-high 15 rebounds to lead the Mustangs over arch rival Pines Charter 86-82 in the Big 8 semifinals.
Melanie Monteagudo, American Heritage, girls’ soccer: Monteagudo scored two goals to lead the two-time defending state champions (19-0-2) past Ida Baker 4-1 in the Class 3A Regional Final.
Victoria Hadler, Deerfield Beach, girls’ basketball: Hadler scored a game-high 27 points to lead the resurgent Bucks over Taravella 61-59 for the District 11-8A title.
Victor Mercado , Sagemont, boys’ soccer: Mercado’s goal in the 60th minute held up as the Lions (19-4-4) edged the South Florida HEAT 1-0 in the 1A quarterfinals.
Sawyer Hall, Pines Charter, girls’ soccer: The ace defender scored two goals lead the Jaguars (21-2-1) over Riviera Beach Suncoast in the Region 4-4A final.
