Monarch (2-0) posted a shutout for the second week in a row, defeating Western (0-3) 40-0 behind four touchdowns by quarterback Michael Harris.
Harris completed 23 of 31 attempts for 361 yards to seven receivers. Calvin Ridley, an Alabama verbal commit and the nation’s No. 1-rated receiver by ESPN and Rivals.com, caught seven of those completions for 121 yards on a night when Alabama wide receivers coach Billy Napier as well as Miami wide receivers coach Brennan Carroll both strolled the sidelines.
Calvin’s brother, Cavin Ridley, caught three passes for 100 yards that included a 68-yard touchdown.
After leading 13-0 at halftime, Monarch (1-0) exploded for 20 points in the third quarter to put the game away. In addition to Ridley, running back Cavarri Morss and receiver Jerry Jeudy each found the end zone in the quarter, and Brayon Parrish scored on a 26-yard run in the fourth to cap off an efficient night.
Monarch’s defense also held Western (0-3) to just 43 yards of total offense as quarterbacks Mitchell Riordan and Zach Rinker combined to complete just 1 of 10 attempts and were sacked three times.
