Sound defense and ball-control offense proved to be the perfect formula for Everglades as the host Gators cruised past South Broward.
Balanced rushing from running backs Xavier Love (103 yards on 11 carries, two touchdowns) and freshman Jakyus Johnson (82 yards, 15 carries, one touchdown) allowed Everglades to dominated time of possession by more than a 2-to-1 margin and the Gators defense, when on the field, limited the Bulldogs to 181 yards of total offense.
“Just a real good, solid victory and the way you like to play a football game,” said Everglades coach Art Taylor, now in his second year after doing big things at Cooper City three years ago.
