Adrian Garcia broke left and jetted 14 yards to pay dirt, slapping off diving defenders and scoring the only touchdown Friday in Hialeah Gardens’ 7-0 victory over Fort Pierce Westwood in its spring game.
The Gladiators, who finished 0-10 last season and have lost 30 consecutive games, won despite three fumbles and zero pass attempts.
“It’s a step in the right direction for our program,” Gladiators coach Joe Harrington said. “We are excited about it, and our kids are excited about it. It feels good for our kids. It’s nice to get back into a competitive football game.”

The game-winning score was a beauty as Springs quarterback Gerald Anderson hit Johnny Rembrick deep down the middle in stride for a 62-yard touchdown pass with 2:57 left in the contest. The play capped off a huge day for both, as Anderson completed 12 of 25 passes for 237 yards and three touchdowns, while Rembrick had four catches for 133 yards and two scores.
D.J. Bethune led the way on the ground for Springs with 86 yards on 17 carries and one score.
Led by its patented wing-ground attack, the Bison dominated the first quarter, going up 14-0 on a 29-yard touchdown run by Diego Mendoza and a 9-yard scoring toss from Tyler Ibarra to Gabriel Gejo.
When Dionoven Rosa bolted 63 yards for a score on the fourth play of the second half, it gave Reagan a 21-6 lead before Springs started its comeback.
Myron Morris picked off an Ibarra pass with two minutes left to seal the win for Springs.
