Patterson comes up short of track title

Boyd Anderson’s Phillip Lee finished second in the 3A boys’ high jump but his more celebrated teammate, Javon Patterson watched his hopes of a 800 meters title vanish when Chiles’ Avery Bartlett walked Patterson down in the last 10 meters to win in 1:52.27. Patterson, who came in ranked No.7 in the nation (1:52.04) appeared on his way to victory after taking the lead with 150 meter left only to watch the long-striding Bartlett surge past him.
