Kanisha Battle has been on a relentless tear for Zion Lutheran this season, and that didn’t stop Tuesday as she scored 30 points en route to a Lions’ 87-39 win against Highlands Christian.

Kanisha’s dominant performance was just enough to outshine her sisters, Brianna and Tyesha, who scored 20 and 18 points, respectively.

The win moves Zion to 8-0, but a tougher opponent, Sagemont, awaits in the second game of a back-to-back.

The Lions and coach Tony Llini don’t plan on changing up their aggressive, fast-paced style against Sagemont.

“We play our same game. We press the whole game,” Llini said. “We are a small team, so we psyche them out with the press.”

It will be up to Sagemont to beat the Lions press and to limit the play of the Battles, who combined for 58 points in the win against Highlands, in order to hand Zion Lutheran its first loss of the season.

“If you beat our press, then you beat us,” Llini said.

Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
