Freshman Mike Epstein took the opening kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown as Cypress Bay routed Northeast in a torrential rain. The game was halted with five minutes left in the third quarter following a skirmish between the teams that resulted in at least one ejection.
The referees said the game was stopped because of unsportsmanlike conduct, but there was no objection from either side.
Epstein led Cypress Bay rushing with 72 yards on 10 carries. He had a 4-yard touchdown run along with his kickoff return for a touchdown. Chris Maxwell scored two touchdowns for Cypress Bay.
