Riding the arm of senior quarterback Nelson Ervin and a swarming defense, Blanche Ely clinched the District 14-7A title at Northeast High on Friday with a 45-12 win.
Ervin threw for 147 yards and had four touchdown passes for the Tigers (4-5, 3-0).
Northeast (2-7, 1-2) took a 6-0 lead midway in the first on an 8-yard touchdown run by quarterback Brion Sanchious.
From that point, Ely utilized the no-huddle offense to keep the Hurricane defense off balance.
With the loss, Northeast was eliminated from playoff contention as Boyd Anderson clinched the district’s runner-up spot.
