Cory Johnson will no longer be coaching football at Miami Killian.
On Monday night, the Killian football Twitter account released the news.
“Cory Johnson was forced to resign as the [head coach] of Miami Killian,” the tweet said. “Admin felt a new direction was needed. Even after going 41-15 in the last 5 yrs.”
Johnson confirmed he was let go when reached by phone but declined to comment further. He said he was notified Monday morning, taught his classes the rest of the day and met with his players after school to relay the news to them.

Johnson will continue to teach weight training and physical education classes at the school.
After a 1-9 season his first year, Johnson led Killian to the playoffs three consecutive years including regional finals appearances in 2012 and 2014. This past season, the Cougars barely missed the playoffs losing in the District 16-8A tiebreaker to rival Southridge.
