Miami Central defensive back Jamel Cook officially joined the roster for the 2016 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio. Cook, an FSU commitment, was presented with his jersey Thursday morning at a ceremony at the high school.
Cook, who will play in the game Jan. 9 at the Alamodome, has four interceptions this season, including two returned for touchdowns. Cook joined American Heritage defensive end Brian Burns and Coconut Creek’s trio of wide receiver Binjimen Victor and athletes Trayvon Mullen and Malek Young as South Florida roster invitees.
Cook is an integral part of a Central defense that has been at the forefront of the school’s three consecutive state titles, four in the past five seasons, and five consecutive state finals appearances.
Central (7-2) aims to continue this run of success beginning Friday when it travels to Lauderdale Lakes to play Boyd Anderson (9-1) at 7:30 p.m. in a Region 4-6A quarterfinal.
