Fife, Scotland (SportsNetwork.com) - Mark Davis closed with a 1-under 71 in windy conditions Sunday and won the Scottish Senior Open by five strokes.
The Englishman ended at 5-under-par 211 on the Torrance Championship Course at Fairmont St. Andrews. This was his first victory on the European Senior Tour.
Davis bogeyed the first, but got that stroke back with a birdie on the fourth. He ran off six pars in a row from the fifth, and was one behind American Jerry Smith.
The 50-year-old grabbed the lead at minus-6 with birdies on the 12th and 14th. After bogeys at 16 and 17, Davis birdied the last to close out the win.
Cesar Monasterio was the second-round leader, but he tripped to a 7-over 79 in the final round to fall into a share of second at even-par 216. He was joined there by David J. Russell (73), Philip Golding (74) and Pedro Linhart (76).
Smith reached 5-under par with a birdie on the 10th, but he played the final six holes in 6-over par with four bogeys and a double-bogey. He closed with a 3-over 75 to slide into a tie for sixth at 1-over 217. Smith ended alongside Jamie Spence (74) and Gordon Manson (75).
