Daytona Beach, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The LPGA Tour announced the addition of the Coates Golf Championship on Tuesday and that the event will kick off the 2015 season.

The tournament will be contested at Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club in Ocala, Fla. The event will run from January 28-31, which is Wednesday to Saturday as it is being played the week of the Super Bowl.

The Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic, which opened the 2014 season, will be contested the week after the Coates Golf Championship.

"We are excited to partner with Coates Golf to have the 2015 LPGA season begin in Florida," said LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan. "Playing back-to-back events in Florida and the Bahamas in the East Coast time zone will be a great way for our fans to watch our first two events of the year live on Golf Channel."

This will mark the second straight year the LPGA has played an official event in January. Prior to 2014, the last official tour event in January was in 2001.
