Bad Ragaz, Switzerland (SportsNetwork.com) - Rick Gibson fired a final-round 66 on Sunday and he went wire-to-wire to win the Bad Ragaz PGA Seniors Open.
Gibson ran away with his first victory on the European Senior Tour, finishing his three rounds at 15-under-par 195, six shots clear of Denis O'Sullivan.
The Canadian was consistently the best player on the course all week. He began the event with a 63 on Friday, followed that up with a 66 on Saturday and he rounded out the tournament with another 66.
Gibson made five bogeys all week, with two of them coming in Sunday's final round. He started off with six straight pars on Sunday before pouring in back- to-back birdies at seven and eight. Gibson's first bogey of the day came at No. 9 and he made the turn at 1-under.
A birdie at No. 11 got Gibson back on track. He followed that up with a par at 12 and he knocked in two more birdies at 13 and 14. His second bogey of the day came at 15, but another birdie at 16 got that shot back quickly. Gibson rounded out his tournament with two pars at 17 and 18.
O'Sullivan also shot a 66 on Sunday, but it was not nearly enough to catch Gibson. O'Sullivan finished in sole possession of second place at 9-under 201 for the week.
Ross Drummond (69) ended alone in third place at 8-under, while Jamie Spence, Carl Mason, Peter Fowler, Gordon Manson and Luis Carbonetti were all tied for fourth at 7-under. Spence and Mason carded 68s, while Fowler, Manson and Carbonetti shot 69s.
