AROUND THE LEAGUE

Welcome to the Brett Favre reality show

gcote@MiamiHerald.com

Here's all you need to know in a nutshell, and I choose that word carefully:

Fox will have an isolated ``Favre-Cam'' tracking Sunday's return of Brett Favre to Lambeau Field (otherwise known as the Vikings-Packers game), and it will provide a ``constant live video stream'' of all-Favre-all-the-time on FoxSports.com and NFL.com, never leaving his sight, pregame through final whistle.

Here's hoping the poor fella doesn't require a bathroom break. Or decide to munch a hot dog on the sideline.

Favre's ballyhooed return will be a study in human nature, a passionate mix of cheers and boos as those loyal to all he did as a Packer cheer while those who think him a traitor boo. Pro-Favre'rs think he was cruelly forced out by dastardly GM Ted Thompson. Anti-Favre'rs think he forced the team's hand by waffling on retirement. I have to think the cheers will ultimately win out, and not by a little.

Favre was conciliatory this week, allowing, ``I totally understand the direction they wanted to go in.''

Meantime, with timing that one doubts was coincidental, a street on Green Bay's northeast side called Minnesota Avenue this week was officially renamed Aaron Rodgers Drive.

Scatter-shooting:

Perfect Season update: Hard to believe, but the three unbeaten teams are the most ever at this point since the 1970 merger. In homage to the '72 Dolphins, the likelihood of 16-0 and toughest games left for each: Colts (25 percent) -- Nov. 15 vs. Patriots, Nov. 22 at Ravens. Saints (20 percent) -- Monday vs. Falcons, Nov. 30 vs. Patriots, Dec. 13 at Falcons, Dec. 19 vs. Cowboys. Broncos (1 percent) -- Sunday at Ravens, Nov. 9 vs. Steelers, Nov. 22 vs. Chargers, Nov. 26 vs. Giants, Dec. 13 at Colts, Dec. 27 at Eagles.

Parity? What parity? Hullo? Lost & Found? Anybody turned in the NFL's parity? The six games decided by 28 or more points last week, and the average winning margin of 20.3, both were the highest for one week in the NFL since the 1970 merger.

Saints' record pace: The team that overwhelmed Miami last week averages 39.7 points, extrapolating to 635 for the season, which would be a record for the 16-game era that began in 1978. The 500-point mark has been topped only 10 times in 31 year, led by the Patriots' 589 in 2007, Vikings' 556 in 1998, and Redskins' 541 in 1983.

Jets in a big rush: The team facing Miami on Sunday has rushed for at least 316 yards in consecutive games, the first NFL team to do so since the 1934 Detroit Lions. (Hey, wasn't that Detroit's last winning season?) You are a trivia expert or an octogenarian Detroiter if you knew the Lions' top rusher that year was Dutch Clark.

The 4K club: What Joe Namath was the first to do, in 1967, has become common: 4,000 yards passing. The record is seven 4K seasons, set in 2007. It isn't safe. Ten QBs are on that pace currently, led by Peyton Manning, whose pace of 5,013 puts him on watch-status as a threat to Dan Marino's enduring 1984 record of 5,084.

QB carousel: Three teams this week have made QB changes unrelated to injury: 49ers to Alex Smith, Buccaneers to Josh Freeman and Titans to Vince Young. Young move makes sense considering Tennessee is 0-6 and Young is 18-11 as a starter. Watch list for change: Browns, Panthers, Redskins, Raiders.

Pro Bowl voting: Fan voting is underway, through Dec. 21. Among Dolphins, call Ronnie Brown a possibility but make nobody else more than a long shot. Game is Jan. 31 in Miami, the week before the Super Bowl. We stole it from Hawaii when, according to Bob Griese, everybody over there was ``out having a luau.''
