WrestleCade Weekend showcases an all-star line-up of past, present and future talent, including David McLane’s WOW-Women Of Wrestling from Nov. 24-26 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
McLane is the creator of GLOW-Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. He joined forces with Los Angeles Lakers Owner/President Jeanie Buss and top TV Executive Producer Mark Burnett “Celebrity Apprentice,” “Shark Tank,” “Survivor,” “The Voice,” “Lucha Underground” on WOW.
McLane discussed that and more in an audio interview for the FanSided Daily DDT.

The WOW appearance at WrestleCade will be the first major live event on the East Coast for WOW and its Superheroes. WOW will be represented at the convention by Georgia wrestling legend Selina Majors, better known as Bambi; former WOW World Champions Jungle Grrrl and the Fabulous Lana Star; ring veteran Amber O’Neal; WOW tag team The Dagger and The Temptress (aka The Vengeful Vixens); and WOW rising stars Stephy Slays, Samantha Smart and The Beast.
In addition, WOW Founder David McLane, the pioneer of modern women’s wrestling, will make his first appearance at the wrestling convention. McLane conceived “GLOW-Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling,” the television show that pulled women’s wrestling out of the sleazy, mud wrestling stigma and in the process created one of the biggest syndicated TV hits of the 1980s.
WrestleCade also features Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Carlito, J.J. Dillon, Demolition, Doom (Hacksaw Butch Reed and Ron Simmons with Teddy Long), Rock-n-Roll Express, Mick Foley, Ronnie Garvin, Beautiful Bobby Eaton and Sweet Stan Lane, Nora (Molly Holly), Bugsy McGraw, Bruce Prichard (Brother Love), Wildfire Tommy Rich, Ken Shamrock, Jake the Snake Roberts, Scott Steiner, Jack Swagger, Magnum TA, Barry Wyndham, D-Lo Brown, Rey Fenix, Hurricane Helms, Rikishi and Grandmaster Sexay, Joey Mercury and John Morrison, GFW Champ Eli Drake, WWE Mae Young Classic competitor Renee Michelle, standout newcomer Kamilla Kaine, and more.

McLane, Buss and Burnett are bringing entertaining, inspiring women’s wrestling to a new generation with WOW, and that excites WrestleCade organizers.
“Women’s wrestling is experiencing a new boom in popularity, so it made sense for WOW to be a part of WrestleCade Weekend,” WrestleCade Entertainment Owner and WrestleCade Weekend Founder Tracy Myers said in a release. “I knew this was the perfect time to provide wrestling fans the unique opportunity to meet and see in action the people responsible for jumpstarting interest in women’s wrestling and fueling its momentum.”
NOTE: Staples Center, home of the Lakers, has hosted many WWE shows, including SummerSlam a few times.
From coast to coast, when McLane was younger, he spent time working in Miami where he met the Dundees (Angelo and Chris). Angelo was the legendary trainer of Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard. Chris was a legendary promoter in South Florida, bringing boxing and pro wrestling to the area. Speaking of Miami, McLane worked with Jackie Stallone on GLOW. Jackie’s sons are singer Frank and actor Sylvester Stallone. They also have Miami ties, including Sly attending the University of Miami.
There are many signs pointing to the recent popularity of women’s wrestling including the renewal of the hit Netflix series “GLOW” and Buss and McLane’s new partnership with Burnett, MGM ’s President of Television Group & Digital, to develop new content for WOW. Pro wrestling is not new to Burnett. He is the executive producer of the lucha libre/pro wrestling series “Lucha Underground” on El Rey Network.
“WrestleCade Weekend attracts fans from around the world and the whole WOW organization is looking forward to giving them a fun and entertaining experience,” McLane said in the release. “We’re still finalizing plans, but can confirm that our latest breakout star, The Beast, will be wrestling on Friday, Nov 24, as part of Showcase of Champions, which kicks off the weekend.”
First staged in 2012, WrestleCade quickly established itself as one of the largest independent wrestling events anywhere in the world. It brings wrestling stars together with their fans, with epic matches and fan-friendly meet-and-greets. It has established itself as a Thanksgiving weekend tradition for wrestling fans around the globe.
WrestleCade Weekend is Nov. 24-26 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The event includes wrestling stars from all the top organizations, including the WWE/WWF, NWA/JCP, Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor, Lucha Underground and others.
Attendees can meet their favorite wrestling stars, see matches, hear stories and ask questions during live podcasts and Q&A sessions and meet wrestling fans from around the world over the course of the three-day weekend. The 2017 version represents the sixth annual version of this storied event, and attendance is expected to exceed 7,000 fans for the weekend spectacular.
