Two Barry athletes get conference honor

Two Barry University athletes won Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week honors.
Middle hitter Meisje-Sable Burton was named Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.
Burton, a junior, helped Barry to three victories against regional opponents. Burton had 16 blocks in the three matches, and she helped to limit opponents to a .070 attack percentage.
Freshman forward Mark Anderson was named Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Anderson factored in six of the Buccaneers' seven goals in two victories.
In a 5-2 conference victory at Eckerd, Anderson had three goals and an assist.
In a 2-1 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic, Anderson scored the first goal of the match and assisted on the winner.
FIU
The Golden Panthers baseball team will hold its annual Alumni Game at 2 p.m. Saturday at University Park Stadium.
Admission to the game is free.
All you-can-eat food and beverages will be available for $10 and the baseball team will be selling discounted tickets for Saturday night's FIU/Middle Tennessee football game.

The FIU triathlon team competed in the Escape to Miami Triathlon last week.
In the Olympic Distance Triathlon, Renan Dolabella (2 hours, 18 minutes, 30 seconds) finished 10th and Michael Pujol finished tied for 363rd in 3:04:04.
In the Sprint Distance Triathlon, Aldo Jansel finished in a time of 1:34:41 to place 175th.
MIAMI DADE COLLEGE
The Miami Dade College Shark Volleyball Tournament concludes with final-round play Saturday.
No. 8 Miami Dade plays No. 10 Missouri-West Plains at noon Saturday.
The tournament playoffs begin at 2 p.m.
Admission is free to the tournament at the Gibson Center on the Kendall Campus of Miami Dade College, 11011 SW 104th St.
ST. THOMAS
The St. Thomas men's golf team finished second behind Brevard Community College at the Spartan Invitational in Tampa.
St. Thomas shot a team score of 852 in the three-round tournament.
Alejandro Velasquez led the Bobcats, finishing seventh individually. Velasquez shot his best round of the tournament on the first day, when he had a 68 on the par-71 course.
NOVA SOUTHEASTERN
Sharks senior setter Valia Petrova was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week.
Petrova helped the Nova volleyball team to two victories, including an upset of then-No. 24 St. Leo.
In the victory over St. Leo, Petrova had 42 assists, 11 kills and 11 digs.
For the week, Petrova averaged 10.82 assists, 2.09 kills and 1.83 digs per set.
The women's golf team finished third at the USF/Waterlefe Invitational.
Campbell University (581) won the Invitational by nine strokes over South Florida (590). Nova (592) finished in third place.
Coastal Carolina's Aruka Felgueroso earned medalist honors with a two-day total of 141.
Nova's Sandra Changkija was second with a 142.
