With FIU starting quarterback Paul McCall's availability for Saturday's game in question, the Golden Panthers might have to turn to backup Wayne Younger for the game against North Texas at FIU Stadium.

McCall is day-to-day with a hyperextended right (throwing) elbow.

Younger, who started against Middle Tennessee last Saturday, was 14 of 38 for 178 yards and threw three interceptions. The junior also gained 64 yards on the ground, including a 31-yard run.

``Hot and cold,'' FIU coach Mario Cristobal said of Younger's performance. ``He did some good things with his feet. He threw some nice balls and some weren't so nice.''

WILDCAT IS UNVEILED

FIU unveiled its Wildcat formation for the first time Saturday.

Running back Kendall Berry took the snaps both times the scheme was used, and he had runs of 4 and 3 yards. The second run set up Berry's third touchdown run of the game.

``I thought we saw something there when we had the chance,'' Cristobal said. ``[Berry] gained [some] yards on the play. Not what you want in terms of the big hit, but enough to keep the ball moving.''
