Barry in men's soccer semis

In a dominating performance, the Barry men's soccer team advanced to the Sunshine State Conference tournament semifinals with a 3-0 win on Tuesday against Florida Tech.

With 20 minutes off the clock in the first half, Barry striker Mark Anderson blasted a shot from 22 yards out into the back of the net. Anderson took the Joao Garcia pass from just outside the box and fired it home. Rodrigo Mancenido was also credited for an assist on the goal -- Anderson's 15th this season.

The half ended with a 1-0 Buccaneers advantage. The Barry defense did not allow a shot on goal during the first half, and only allowed four in the game.

The first Barry goal during the second half came off the head of freshman Christian Yidios. Again, Mancenido gave the assist on the goal, as well as Anderson. Yidios headed the ball into the back of the net from 6 yards out. This season, Yidios has seen action in only five games. The goal is the first of this career.

The final goal came from freshman Kendall Sealy. Anderson fed Sealy at the corner of the box then Sealy dribbled around the sliding Panthers goalkeeper and struck the ball into an empty net.

The win advances the Buccaneers to the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. Friday against Rollins in Tampa.
