Carlos Dolabella, 48, of Key Biscayne won the Sprint division of the Miami Nice Triathlon on Sunday around Miami Marine Stadium.

With temperatures in the 60s from the first cold front of the season, Dolabella led from start to finish, covering the half-mile swim, 12.5-mile bike and 3.1-mile run in 1 hour 5 minutes and 53 seconds.

``The race was very well-organized, and it was really nice to finish [my] season with a win,'' said Dolabella, who won the World's Fittest CEO race in August.

Elise Schillmoller, 33, of Miami was the women's winner in 1:13:14.

``This is my first triathlon season, and I won two races,'' said Schillmoller, who will represent Team USA at the AG Triathlon World Championship in September in Budapest, Hungary.

Monica Rossi-Montero, 40, of Miami was second in 1:15:14. Last weekend, Rossi-Montero was runner-up at the Publix Family Fitness Series Duathlon Championships in Winter Park. On Sunday, Schillmoller pulled away from her on the bike.

John Reback, 39, of Jupiter won the Olympic distance race. He completed the 1,500-meter swim, 24.8-mile bike and 6.2-mile run in 2:05:09. Reinaldo Oliveira, 31, from Rio de Janeiro, was second in 2:08:18. Isabel Olivas, 25, of Miami was the first female finisher in 2:14:28.

• FIU d. South Alabama 28-26, 25-19, 25-18: Host FIU won its 12th match in a row after sweeping visiting South Alabama. The Golden Panthers improved to 19-2 overall and 9-2 in the Sun Belt Conference, and the Jaguars fell to 11-2, 2-8.

• Miami d. Maryland 25-23, 25-15, 25-18: The University of Miami used 18 kills from Lane Carico and eight more from Lici McGee to help power past Maryland. Miami (12-7, 5-4 ACC) played its fourth consecutive road match and finished 3-1. Maryland fell to 10-12 overall and 2-7 in the ACC.

• Wake Forest 2, Miami 0: The Hurricanes (7-8, 2-4 ACC) ended a tough two-game road trip with a loss to sixth-ranked Wake Forest (12-2-1, 4-1-1).

However, in the second half, Wake Forest needed only one minute to score as Bess Harrington collected a rebound, 22 yards out and gave the home team the game winner. The Hurricanes only managed two shots on goal.

• FIU 2, Troy 1: Amy Jackson scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Golden Panthers a victory at Troy on Sunday afternoon. With the win, FIU (8-5-3, 6-1-1) ties the program record for most wins during Sun Belt play.
