FIU downs Denver

The FIU women's soccer team stunned visiting Denver in a 1-0 win on Friday night.
Junior forward Thaisa Moreno scored in the first 53 seconds to snap a six-game losing skid to the Pioneers.
FIU's defense recorded its fifth shutout of the season and held Denver, which is ranked fourth in the in the NSCAA South Regional rankings, under its 2.18 goals-per-game average, which places it among the top 50 in the country.
North Texas 2, FAU 0: Jamie Greany, Laura Hyvonen, Mannarino and Anhani Tran each had one shot in the loss for the Owls. North Texas outshot FAU by a 16-4 margin and recorded all six corner kicks in the contest.
Nova Southeastern 3, Tampa 2: The victory is the first time in program history that Nova (5-4-0, 2-2-0 SSC) has beaten Tampa (4-6-1, 0-1-0 SSC).
Elizabeth Brauher, Alexis Hernandez and Kesiah Wattley scored.
VOLLEYBALL
FIU d. Western Kentucky 24-26, 25-16, 26-24, 25-13: The Panthers improved to 13-2 and 3-0.
Yarimar Rosa led all scorers with her season-best 24 kills, and Jovana Bjelica added 12 kills and senior Olga Vergun chipped in with 11 kills. Andrea Lakovic had nine kills.
Rollins College d. Barry women 25-20, 25-23, 25-16: Julia Teixiera led the visiting Bucs (9-4, 1-3 SSC) and all hitters with 14 kills, and Libby Walter had 22 assists. Spenser Riggs led all defenders with 18 digs.
Nova Southeastern University d. Florida Tech: Sharks senior All-America setter Valia Petrova recorded her first triple-double of the season with 11 kills, 39 assists and 20 digs.
CROSS COUNTRY
Good outing: The Nova men's and women's teams placed second and fourth, respectively, at the flrunners.com Invitational 10 in Titusville. The men's team totaled 36 points, and the women compiled 131 points.
