Miami to have Ironman in 2010

The World Triathlon Corporation is set to announce Wednesday that Miami will be the host city for the newest Ironman 70.3 event.

The Ironman 70.3 Miami, which will take place Oct. 30, 2010, will consist of a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride and a 13.1-mile run.

The swimming portion will begin at BayFront Park, where participants will return to start the bike ride, which will take them through Watson Island, where riders will take a loop back south toward Homestead. Participants will ride through Coral Gables, Coconut Grove and Pinecrest until returning to downtown Miami. The final run will take participants on a loop around McArthur Causeway before getting to the finish line at BayFront Park.

The race is limited to 2,000 athletes. There will be 50 qualifying slots available to the 2011 Clearwater Florida championships, in addition to a professional prize purse of $36,000 that will be distributed among the top male and female finishers.

Lynn 3, Barry 0: Sami Cromartie made four saves for host Barry (2-7). Brittany Evernden, Melissa Ortiz and Alison Ramsey scored for Lynn (6-4).
