Several FIU football players limited in practice by injuries
Several FIU players were limited in practice Tuesday after sustaining minor injuries against North Texas on Saturday.
Cornerback Robert Mitchell (bruised shoulder) wore an orange (noncontact) jersey as he lined up with the first-team defense during drills.
Linebacker Toronto Smith (ankle sprain) was held out of practice, but FIU coach Mario Cristobal said ``Toronto's good to go.''
Offensive lineman Chris Cawthon (knee) did not practice.
''Chris Cawthon is hurt,'' Cristobal said. ``We're going to reevaluate him a little bit later this week. He's questionable for Middle Tennessee.''
TURNING HEADS ON TURNOVERS
By getting eight turnovers in its past two games and not producing any of its own, FIU has moved into the top 15 in the nation in turnover margin and fumbles recovered.
The Golden Panthers rank 12th in Football Bowl Subdivision with a 1.20 turnover margin.
FIU is 11th in the nation with seven fumbles recovered.
