FIU quarterback Paul McCall returns to practice

Starting quarterback Paul McCall practiced Tuesday as he tries to come back from a hyperextended right elbow sustained two weeks ago against Louisiana-Lafayette.

McCall missed last Saturday's game against Middle Tennessee. Backup Wayne Younger started and went 14 for 38 for 178 yards and three interceptions.

McCall threw short and intermediate routes in practice and could return against North Texas on Saturday at FIU Stadium.

``He's practicing and we'll make a decision later in the week,'' coach Mario Cristobal said. ``There is a chance we could use both Paul and Wayne.''

MORE INJURIES

Receiver T.Y. Hilton also practiced as he mends from a nagging knee injury sustained Oct. 10 against Western Kentucky. Cristobal said Hilton is ``better and progressing his way there. He is one step closer to being ready.'' Hilton has been limited in games since Oct. 10.

Defensive back Jarrell McGee is done for the season. McGee tore his right anterior cruciate ligament on a punt return against Middle Tennessee Safety Chuck Grace has a sprained ankle and is probable for Saturday's game.
