Receiver T.Y. Hilton, who missed all but one play against Louisiana-Lafayette last Saturday with a recurring knee injury, was cleared by team doctors Monday to resume practicing.
Hilton is expected to practice with the Golden Panthers on Tuesday as the team prepares for their game at Middle Tennessee on Saturday afternoon.
Coach Mario Cristobal said Hilton is day-to-day.
Freshman receiver Wayne Times, who filled in for Hilton against the Ragin' Cajuns on kick returns and receiving, led FIU with five catches for 60 yards.
``He is a real, real good player,'' Cristobal said. ``He was phenomenal on Saturday.''
MACK MAKING PROGRESS
Junior guard Cedric Mack is close to cracking the starting lineup.
Mack, who received his most playing this season last Saturday, is competing this week in practice with starting guards Dave Istanich and Mario Caraballo for the left- and right-guard starting jobs, respectively.
Although starting middle linebacker Toronto Smith had surgery for a meniscus tear in his right knee last week, Cristobal said Monday that there is an outside chance he could be available for FIU's final two games and might not be lost for the season.
