A game-by-game breakdown (with predictions) of the Miami Hurricanes’ 2014 football schedule:

SEPT. 1: @LOUISVILLE, 8 P.M. (ESPN)

Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium: Canes should provide more resistance than they did in last December’s Russell Athletic Bowl, but not enough to ruin Bobby Petrino’s first game back as coach. LOU 31-24

SEPT. 6: FLORIDA A&M, 7 P.M. (ESPN3)

Sun Life Stadium: If we don’t see him at Louisville, this might be where Brad Kaaya — and a boatload of other UM freshmen — make their Canes debuts. UM 52-7

SEPT. 13: ARKANSAS STATE, 3:30 P.M. (ESPNU)

Sun Life Stadium: The Wolves have been to three consecutive bowl games, but they’re not going to make a statement here. UM 42-14

SEPT. 20: @NEBRASKA, 8 P.M. (ABC/ESPN/ESPN2)

Memorial Stadium: Cornhuskers star tailback Ameer Abdullah ran for 1,690 yards last season and will be a huge test for UM’s run defense. NEB 34-27

SEPT. 27: DUKE, TBA

Sun Life Stadium: Canes haven’t beaten Duke twice in a row in hoops so it isn’t happening the other way around in football. UM 38-24

OCT. 4: @GEORGIA TECH, TBA

Bobby Dodd Stadium: Yellow Jackets are 28-25 over the past four seasons and 0-6 against UM in the past six years. UM 34-24

OCT. 11: CINCINNATI, TBA

Sun Life Stadium: Former Notre Dame quarterback Gunner Kiel has a group of talented receivers, but this is where Miami’s improved secondary steps up. UM 27-20

OCT. 23: @VIRGINIA TECH, 7:30 P.M. (ESPN)

Lane Stadium: Can Miami’s talented receivers beat one of the nation’s top secondaries? Not on this Thursday night. VT 23-17

NOV. 1: NORTH CAROLINA, TBA

Sun Life Stadium: Dallas Crawford saves the Canes again, but this time it’s on defense. UM 29-24

NOV. 15: FLORIDA STATE, TBA

Sun Life Stadium: UM made it close for a half last year, but there’s still not enough defense in Coral Gables to close the gap with the national champs. FSU 38-27

NOV. 22: @VIRGINIA, TBA

Scott Stadium: Mike London’s last home game as coach at Virginia won’t end well. UM 41-14

NOV. 29: PITTSBURGH, TBA

Sun Life Stadium: Canes should easily make it 17 of 18 in this series. UM 31-14.
