The opener of the three-game baseball series between the No. 7 Miami Hurricanes and North Carolina was postponed Thursday because of rain and rescheduled to be part of a Friday doubleheader.
The first game Friday will be at 3 p.m., followed by the night game at 7:30 at Alex Rodriguez Park.
Left-handed junior ace Chris Diaz (9-0, 2.05 ERA) is expected to start for UM in the opener Friday, with right-handed sophomore Trent Thornton (7-3, 2.06) starting for the Tar Heels (31-21, 14-13).
In the night game, left-handed redshirt sophomore Andrew Suarez (5-2, 2.53) will pitch for the Canes and right-handed junior Benton Moss (3-2, 3.79) will start for UNC.
The Hurricanes (38-14, 22-5 Atlantic Coast Conference), with a No. 10 RPI, are on the bubble to earn one of eight nationals seeds in the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament, which begins May 30.
After Saturday’s noon regular-season finale, UM leaves for Greensboro, N.C., to compete in the ACC tournament that begins Tuesday.
