Jimbo Fisher is not a fan of preseason polls.

Fisher’s Seminoles were jumped by Oregon in the BCS standings on Sunday, largely due in part to being ranked behind the Ducks in the preseason.

“Let’s don’t even make a poll — you wouldn’t sell any preseason magazines, though — and wait until about Week Six or Seven,” Fisher said Monday. “The argument is more, ‘Should they jump them?’ Well, why were they ever ahead of them?”

But Fisher also could improve FSU’s standing in at least one poll — he casts a weekly ballot in the USA Today Coaches’ poll — and hasn’t.

“We didn’t have a first-place vote did we?” Fisher asked. “I don’t look at it through our team, you can’t let emotion get into it. And I think that’s one of the things you have to do as a coach: You have to understand what your job is.”
