Yonnhy Perez took the IBF bantamweight title from Joseph Agbeko in a 12-round unanimous decision Saturday night.
Perez (20-0), appearing in his first title fight, floored his opponent in the 10th round. The knockdown came after an apparent accidental head-butt, after which Agbeko turned his back apparently to complain. Perez won by a count of 117-110 on two of the scorecards, while a third judge had him ahead, 116-111, at the Treasure Island Hotel/Casino.
Agbeko (27-2) was making his third defense of the title he won over Luis Alberto Perez in September 2007.
In another bout, Antonio DeMarco (23-1-1, 17 KOs) scored a 10th-round technical knockout of Jose Alfaro (23-5) to win the WBC interim lightweight championship. Alfaro was on the canvas three times in the 10th round before referee Joe Cortez called a halt to the bout at the 2:07 mark.
