Broward pet of the week
Ollie , a 5-month-old tiger kitten, is the cutest kitten at the Humane Society of Broward County. But he did not arrive that way. Ollie was chased by a dog up a palm tree where sharp fronds cut gashes into both of his front legs. The kitten's injuries needed emergency attention and required many stitches. Now, after weeks of recovery with a loving foster family, Ollie is happy and healthy but back at the center. He needs a new family.
To adopt Ollie (ID No. A355878) or any other dog or cat, visit the Humane Society of Broward County at 2070 Griffin Rd., just west of Interstate 95 in Dania Beach.
Adoption fees are $135 for puppies 6 months and younger, $100 for dogs and $85 for one or two cats. The fee includes spay/neuter surgery, preliminary vaccinations, heartworm test for dogs and feline leukemia test for cats, microchip and registration and a 14-day healthcare plan. The adoption fee for rabbits is $20.

Thunder sign G Wilks
The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed veteran guard Mike Wilks.

Wilks has career averages of 2.5 points and 1.2 assists, and will provide some depth at the position for the Thunder, as Shaun Livingston (knee), Kyle Weaver (shoulder) and Kevin Ollie (knee) are all dealing with injuries.

The Panthers are back in the United States after an eight-day trip through Canada. On Monday the team practiced in Dallas in preparation for Tuesday's game at American Airlines Center against the Stars. Florida plays host to the Stars at BankAtlantic Center on Wednesday night.

Center Gregory Campbell was held out with a hip flexor, although he's expected to play in one of the two Dallas games - as is Ballard. Winger Radek Dvorak has missed all of training camp, staying home in the Czech Republic because of a family matter but is currently in South Florida and will rejoin the team Wednesday. Coach Pete DeBoer said he could play if he feels physically ready.
Florida has lost three straight preseason games and heads into Tuesday's game 2-3 in exhibition play. The Panthers lost at Calgary 5-2 on Sunday night, with former Panthers Olli Jokinen and Jay Bouwmeester both factoring in the scoring. Jokinen, the team's
