The Sports Network

The Sacramento Kings waived guard/forward Desmond Mason on Thursday.

Mason, signed in September to a one-year contract, averaged 2.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in five games -- four starts -- for the Kings this season. The 31- year-old missed most of last season due to injury, playing in only 39 games with the Thunder and averaging 7.5 points and 4.0 rebounds.

His career year came in 2004-05 with the Bucks, when Mason averaged 17.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in 80 contests. The Oklahoma State product has played in 643 games for Sacramento, Seattle/Oklahoma City, Milwaukee and New Orleans/Oklahoma City in a 10-year career and has per- game averages of 12.1 points and 4.5 rebounds.
