Devin Harris scored a team-high 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field to help the New Jersey Nets top the Miami Heat, 100-98, in preseason action at Bercy Arena.
Vince Carter finished with eight points but was held out of the second half for precautionary reasons due to a strained hamstring for New Jersey, which failed to reach the postseason for the first time since 2001 last year. Rookie Chris Douglas-Roberts logged 18 points for the victors.
Dwyane Wade dropped 21 points in limited action for the Heat, while Michael Beasley, the second overall pick in June's draft, contributed 21 points as well but missed a game-tying free throw late in overtime.
Swingman and Paris-born Yakhouba Diawara added nine points and three rebounds in the loss for Miami, which was a league-worst 15-67 last season.
