Recap: Miami vs. Detroit

Jason Maxiell had 13 points, including the first four of overtime, as the Detroit Pistons beat the Miami Heat, 95-91, in the preseason opener for both teams.
Rodney Stuckey led the way with 23 points for Detroit, which reached the Eastern Conference finals last season before losing to the eventual NBA champion Boston Celtics.
Richard Hamilton had 12 points, while Walter Herrmann had 11 and Antonio McDyess scored 10 for the Pistons.
Michael Beasley, the second overall choice in this year's draft, had 16 points and six rebounds to pace the Heat. Mark Blount added 12 points, while Dwyane Wade ended with 11 points and seven assists. Daequan Cook and David Padgett also finished with 11 points for the Heat, who finished 15-67 last season.
Stuckey's jumper in the closing seconds forced overtime, but Maxiell started the extra session by nailing a pair of jumpers for a 90-86 lead. McDyess' layup extended the margin to six points, before the Pistons held on in the final minute thanks to missed shots from Yakhouba Diawara and Cook.
