The Colorado Rockies on Friday declined the 2010 team option on Rafeal Betancourt, making the reliever a free agent.

The Rockies acquired the 34-year-old right-hander from the Cleveland Indians this past July. In 61 combined games with the Tribe and Rockies last season, Betancourt posted a 4-3 record with a 2.73 earned run average.

"We did not exercise the option, but we will continue to negotiate with Rafael," said Rockies executive vice president and general manager Dan O'Dowd.

For his career, Betancourt has made 403 appearances with Cleveland and Colorado, going 26-23 with 18 saves and a 3.16 ERA.
