Phillies' Martinez scratched from Saturday start vs. Brewers

The Sports Network

Phillies right-hander Pedro Martinez has been scratched from his scheduled start Saturday in Milwaukee due to a neck injury.

Martinez, who signed with Philadelphia on July 15, hurt his neck during an at- bat against the Braves on September 19. Martinez exited that game against Atlanta in the fourth inning.

Martinez is 5-1 with a 3.32 earned run average in eight starts with the Phils this year.

Kyle Kendrick will pitch in place of Martinez on Saturday. In six games (one start) this season with Philadelphia, Kendrick is 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA.
