Jeremy Hermida has probably played his last game as a Marlin.

The outfielder, who will likely be traded during the offseason, is continuing to experience discomfort from an oblique injury.

As a result, manager Fredi Gonzalez said, ``I think he may be done.''

Hermida has not started since sustaining the injury on Sept. 2. After striking out as a pinch-hitter on Monday, Hermida informed Gonzalez the following day that he was feeling sore.

``So we might shut him down,'' Gonzalez said.

Hermida said he hasn't given thought to his Marlins career being over.

``As of now, I still have a Marlins jersey hanging up in my locker, and we still have four games to go,'' Hermida said.

PROSPECT SHOT IN PUERTO RICO

Osvaldo Martinez Pizarro, a 21-year-old shortstop signed by the Marlins, was shot several times in a drive-by attack in Puerto Rico.

Pizarro was wounded while he was driving Wednesday through the city of Carolina, just east of San Juan, police spokeswoman Maria Rivera said. He was taken to a hospital for surgery.

Martinez was signed by the Marlins in 2006 and plays for the Jupiter Hammerheads minor league team. He played in 130 games this season, batting .254 with 45 RBI.

He also plays for the Criollos de Caguas in Puerto Rico.

In a statement, the Marlins said they were aware of the shooting and gathering information. ``The entire organization's thoughts and prayers are with Osvaldo and his family,'' the statement read.

NEW GOAL: 88 WINS

The Marlins were eliminated from the wild-card race on Tuesday when the Colorado Rockies defeated the Brewers.

``It was four games left when they finally put the mark on us,'' Gonzalez said. ``So you feel like we were in it the whole time. I'm proud of those guys. We'd still like to get to 88 wins.''

The Marlins have already wrapped up their sixth winning season in franchise history.
