The Marlins said this weekend they will not raise prices for season tickets or individual games next season.

Fans who renew season tickets and pay in full by Sept. 21 will receive an eight percent price reduction; fans who pay in five installments will receive a 2.5 percent discount. Fans also can freeze their season ticket prices for the next two years and receive an eight percent discount.

People who own season tickets will get priority for seating placement in the Marlins' new ballpark, scheduled to open in 2012.

A CAREER FIRST

It took Gaby Sanchez a little bit longer than he expected -- 20 at-bats and three trips back and forth from the minors -- but he was more than happy to finally crush his first career home run Saturday night.

The 26-year old first baseman had much different expectations for this season. He began competing for a starting job in March, but struggled in spring training after he suffered a deep bone bruise in his left knee after colliding with former Nationals outfielder Lastings Milledge.

Then, he got off to a hot start for Triple A New Orleans (hitting .345 with 19 runs, four homers and 16 RBI) before he injured his right knee in a collision at the plate. He was recalled for the third time on Sept. 8 and a after a rough 1-for-11 start in a pinch-hitting role, he got a hold of a slider off former Marlin Logan Kensing.

``It's just one of those things where I'm feeling better at the plate and I'm adapting to the role of coming off the bench,'' said Sanchez, who traded an autographed bat to a fan for the home run ball. ``Hopefully, I can turn these positives toward next year.''

CLOSING IN ON A MILESTONE

Barring a complete meltdown, shortstop Hanley Ramirez should wrap up his first league batting title when the season wraps up in three weeks.

But chances are he'll accomplish another career milestone way before then. Ramirez needs one RBI to record his first 100 RBI season and the ninth different Marlin to reach the century mark in runs driven in.

Once he does, he would join Preston Wilson as the only Marlins to drive in 100 runs and steal 20 bases in a single season.
