2012 Spelling BEE!
The Miami Herald is proud to bring you the 72nd Annual Miami Herald Spelling Bee Competition. The Middle School champion of the 72nd Annual Miami Herald Spelling Bee will compete in the 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. There will be one winner from Dade/Monroe and one winner from Broward county.
ATTENTION TEACHERS:
In order for your students to participate in the Miami Herald spelling bee program, your school must enroll with the Scripps National Spelling Bee at www.spellingbee.com, click on "Enroll Now" by October 17, 2011. The materials and enrollment fee is $93. This will also serve as your registration with the Miami Herald.
When you enroll at www.spellingbee.com, you will receive exclusive online access to grade-specific word lists and study sheets, 2012 Classroom Pronouncer Guide, 2012 School Pronouncer Guide, Great American SpellCheck materials, award certificates, a bonus from Encyclopedia Britannica and local spelling bee program information.
Deadline to enroll your school: October 17, 2011 without a late fee
Deadline to submit school champion: Broward County - January 25, 2012
Deadline to submit school champion: Dade/Monroe Counties - February 15, 2012

8:00 AM - Elementary School Registration (Grades 4th & 5th)
12:00 Noon - Middle School Registration (Grades 6th, 7th and 8th)
Dade and Monroe Counties: Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Jungle Island in Miami (Parking is $5)
