Recruiting Profile | Krop linebacker Etienne Sabino

At 6-3, 230 pounds, Miami Dr. Krop High's Etienne Sabino personifies the old cliche -- can't miss football prospect. And schools certainly didn't have any trouble finding him.

After an impressive junior season at Krop, Sabino quickly became one of the most highly-sought after recruits in talent-rich South Florida. By last summer, USC, Florida, Ohio State and the University of Miami were among the more than 30 schools to offer him scholarships.

But in the end, after taking trips to Florida, USC and finally Ohio State, the All-American and All-State selection decided he wanted to be a Buckeye.

Last week, he graduated from high school and on Tuesday Herald Sports Writer Manny Navarro caught up with Sabino for an update. Sabino, considered the state's eighth-best overall prospect by The Miami Herald, explained how his desire to leave the state and cheaper airfare led him to choosing Ohio State.
