Canes pick up Homestead DE Robinson
Homestead defensive end Marcus Robinson played his junior year under University of Miami linebackers coach Micheal Barrow. He will rejoin his former high school coach at UM as Robinson signed his National Letter of Intent Wednesday morning at Homestead High School.
Robinson, who finished his senior year with 23 sacks, led the Broncos to their first district championship since 1985 and a berth in the regional semifinals before falling to rival South Dade.
Robinson is the second Bronco to become a Hurricane in two years, following safety Joseph Nicolas last season.
'It was really easy for me cause I knew in my heart this was the place I wanted to be so it was the only choice I was running on last night. I couldn't answer my phone. I was getting a lot of phone calls. I knew I really wanted to be at the `U' and I know I can do great there,'' Robinson said.
Robinson, who was dressed in a gray suit, made the decision in front numerous teammates, classmates and family members in the Homestead High School auditorium.
There was speculation late in his recruiting that he might be considering other schools, including Florida State, USC and LSU, but Robinson ended the speculation when he signed with Miami Wednesday.
'I've been hearing it all year. They were all good trips, but when I sat down and talked to my family, I knew the `U' is where I wanted to be,'' Robinson said.
