Dr. Carlos Wolf has been working in the field of plastic surgery for more than 20 years. Although he's a facial plastic surgeon and limits his Miami practice to surgical and nonsurgical treatments of the face, he works with Dr. Brad Herman and Dr. Michael Kelly who are both plastic surgeons. Therefore, all questions pertaining to plastic surgery will be entertained. No topic will be too small (torn ear lobes) or too big (breast augmentation).

Q: Dr. Wolf, I have researched the face lift procedure on your website and throughout the web extensively. I believe I am a great candidate for the surgery but work very long hours and can't seem to find the time to come in for a consult. Do you offer a virtual consultation process or is there a way I can send you pictures rather then coming in person?

A: Yes we do offer a virtual web consultation. A virtual web consultation is a method where a patient can upload their pictures on a physician's web site and get an opinion if they are candidates for the type of surgery they want to have. Its a great way for patients who are out of the city to get an unbiased opinion from a doctor. Usually there is not fees associated with the patient consultion therefore the patient can have various opinions without leaving home. Naturally there are procedures which may not be condusive to this type of evaluation. Each doctor has their own preference. Q: Dear Dr. Wolf I am a 53 yr old woman and so far have had no procedures done. I have had a few consultations and seemed to get more confused with each one. I don't have wrinkles but I do have nasolabial folds around my mouth, some light acne scarring , and a little bit of loose skin on my neck. I do wear makeup so the scarring isn''t my major concern, but I feel my face needs some brightening up and some volume. I have been told to do everything from silk peels, to photo facials, to fraxel , thermage, combined with sculptra, or radiesse and a thread lift for my neck. The only thing I do know is that I don't' want to have surgery but if I am going to make an investment I want to be able to notice a difference in my looks. I feel at my age this would be a good time to start on a preventative/maintenance skin care regime. I also started using Obagi products. Sorry for such a long question, I'm hoping you can give me some insight . Can you suggest any doctors here in Ft. Lauderdale? If not , I would be happy to schedule a consultation with you. Thank you

A: I have stopped suggesting other doctors as I cannot vouch for them. I did that a few times and ended up suffering the consequences of bad surgery and poor judgement(even though I did not do them!!) I would be happy to see you and give you my opinion. Q: I am 5'6", weigh about 130 pounds, I am 25 years old and I have subcutaneous fat around my neck (right below my chin). My weight has fluctuated but I have not experienced significant weight gain or loss to exceed 10 pounds. Can this be a result of water retention? Please provide any reccomendations. Thank you.

A: I doubt that it is water retention. It is more than likely a familial trait (inherited), so that you will have that always. You may be a good candidate for neck lipo-suction. Good luck.Submitted by martha from Miami Lakes
Q: Dr. Wolf quisiera sabe si se me puede quitar una protuberancia que tengo encima de la ceja, debido a una Injection de Biopolimero (Silicon) se puede palpar perfectamente se puede agarrar como si fuera fuese un tumor por favor no ignore mi pregunta.

Q: Buenas tardes doctor; quisiera saber si existe un antidoto para juvederm? me lo aplique en los labio pero quedaron demasiado inflamados e irreglares y tambien con pelotas donde aplicaron la inyeccion. han pasado ya dos semanas y no se ven bien. quisiera saber si hay algo para contrarrestar el efecto? muchas gracias por su ayuda.

A: El efecto es de 6 a 9 meses. El problema puede ser como se inyecto. Hay una inyeccion que se puede poner pero no es recomendable. Si quieres poner mas para mejorar como se ve seria recomendable tambien.Submitted by marta from miam florida

A: Thank you for your note. Its always nice to hear about happy patients! I only use non-permanent materials in the lips because of the problems I see with the permanent mater5ials that are available out there. The materials I use include Restylane,Perlane,and Juvederm. THIS IS A WARNING TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN INJECTED BY NON-PHYSICIANS AND SUPPOSED PHYSICIANS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES OFFERING INJECTIONS FOR A CHEAP PRICE..I see a lot of people injected with silicone and bio polymer whose lives are destroyed. Buyer be ware once the substances are injected there are very few treatment options.!!!
