Although he's a facial plastic surgeon and limits his Miami practice to surgical and nonsurgical treatments of the face, he works with Dr. Brad Herman and Dr. Michael Kelly who are both plastic surgeons. Q: Please tell me what ,if any, nonsurgical treatments are there for malar bags...I understand they are difficult to treat and mostly due to edema in the upper cheek area...any suggestions are success with these????

A: You are correct, they are difficult to correct! You can try Thermage to reduce the bags. You can also try to have steroid injected directly into the bags, but you should be very careful to do it with someone that has done it frequently as there are subtle ways to correct these. A: Before you have any surgery you should have a complete evaluation. If your cardiologist feels that you have no added risk and that your able to undergo surgery then you should do fine. I would definitely check with your surgeon and cardiologist before undergoing surgery. Even with a complete surgery there are always risk.!Submitted by patricia from manteca california

Q: Hi Dr. Wolf, I have a 16 year old daughter. She is 5 feet tall and is already a double D in breast size. She suffers from back pain and just doesn't feel confortable. She already wants to get a reduction. At what age can she have this done and are there any new procedure to reduce scarring? Thank you

A: Sorry for the delay in answering your question.If she is already having trouble she may undergo this type of surgery at her age. There are newer techniques that decrease the amount of scars and make it easier to recover from. A: Whenever people have medical conditions it is important to make sure that they are being treated optimally before surgery. If your conditions are stable and your primary doctor feels that you do not have significant risks during surgery you can undergo surgery. I think because you have diabetes. Q: Dr. Wolf I had my breast surgery about 7 years ago, but the doctor has being replacing the "bags" five times since the protesis pops almost every year. The doctor said he doesn´t know why or what is wrong. Everytime he contacted the manufacturer and get new ones at no charge and no charge for the surgery. Now I am having the same problem again. Please let me know what to do. I will appreciate your prompt reply I am scared !

Q: Buenas le estoy escribien para hacer una pregunta muy importante.bueno yo fui a cali colombia porque me iba hacer una lipectomia,y levantamiento de cenos con implantes y decidi ir a colombia porque me salia muy barato y porque era una de las mejores clinicas. pero cuando me iban a operar me dio una reacion que era anafilaxia y me bajo la precion a 40 sobre 20 y me tuvieron que dar adrenalina. y cuando desperte me dijeron que probablemente era alergica a algo y no sabian a que y me enviaron donde un alergologo y el descubrio que era alergica alcefacidal,penincilina,cefalosporina y aines y un poco al latex me gustaria saber que usted me recomienda sobre lo que me sucedio . gracias.

Q: I have had a lower face lift on Jan.26, 2009. I have had nothing but strange complications of which my plastic surgeon has shrugged his shoulders as he has never seen this problem before. At four weeks after surgery, I tried to floss and the floss got caught in my implant lower back left quandrant. Seeing and feeling further swelling, I went to see my surgeon who did not believe anything happened to the surgery. Shortly thereafter I started having severe pain for weeks in the implant area and left side ear. I went to see my periodontist at 3 months. My gums were bleeding and he did a gentle scaling. I noticed the lower left side of my mouth started to droop after this procedure. I went to my surgeon again who dismissed it and told me not to worry.I complained about severe pain in the left ear since the fourth week and that also was not healing as the right ear. As a result of the pain, I used mostly the right side of my mouth. I now have left sided mouth droop and what feels like lax left sidedness and my left eye is lazy and wants to always close. I have left sided neuropathy, some on occassion on the right side. I have to practice my speech as I slur. I have had a CT skan, MRI. I have seen my primary and a neurologist both of whom don't know what to do. What should be my next step as my face is not symmetrical, my speech impaired ... I am WORRIED!

A: You could possibly have a Bell's Palsy. Something totally unrelated to your surgery. I am surprised you neurologist did not think about that. It usually resolves. Let me know how you are.
