Q: Take "national" out of it, then. You wouldn't say you're a local celebrity? My mother knows who you are and she doesn't watch ESPN, listen to your show or read the Herald's sports page. She wouldn't know Cote from the Florida Plunder & Loot meter reader, but you, she knows.

Answered 08/22/11 13:43:26 by Dan Le Batard

A: slightly early for that

Q: True or False? This Texas A&M to SEC stuff is just further proof of the hypocrisy that is the NCAA. Players must be loyal to school. School doesn't have to be loyal to conference. We can make money on you. You cannot make money on your own accomplishments.

Answered 08/22/11 13:43:10 by Dan Le Batard

A: not hypocrisy....inconsistency...

Q: Apropos of nothing, I was at the Phils/Nationals game in DC on Saturday along with 40,000 other Phillies fans. It would take the Marlins two weeks to reach that number--at home.

Answered 08/22/11 13:42:03 by Dan Le Batard

A: wouldn't be that way if marlins had 3 aces and a 400-game lead

Q: So I am supposed to believe that Jacory Harris got 3K, a boat ride and his wee wee played with per INT?

Q: Who would have thought that Al Golden having "University of Miami" on his resume would wind up being more embarrassing than having "Temple University" on there? No sympathy from me. You lie down with whores, you get the diseases. Same goes for Laranga or whoever the octogenarian basketball coach is.

Answered 08/22/11 13:41:06 by Dan Le Batard

A: sometimes you lie down with whores and what you get is magic, though

Q: Dan, you're an effing celebrity and that's it. Yeah. You're a sportswriter on AM radio. You're also on ESPN. More people know who you are than they know the name of the congressman representing their district. Which is very, very sad, but still very true.

A: what's the tipping point on this? being on tv sometimes? on a cable network as a backup?

Q: OHHHHH LOS MARLINES!!!!

Q: I generally agree with most of your points about the Miami situation (and that's as "Da U" hater), but the one thing I've not heard you bring up about the "kids" being exploited by either the NCAA machine or Nevin types is the role of their parents. I know it's stereotypical to assume a lack of two-parent household in the demographic you champion, but don't they (be their parent or guardian figure) have some part in teaching what is considered "societal morality?"

Answered 08/22/11 13:37:42 by Dan Le Batard

A: how much control did your parents have over YOU while you were in college? i had the world's greatest upbringing...and i cheated on college tests

Q: Dan. I'm with you on everything with this UM stuff. But I just don't think the athletes not having a choice other than college football does that much to help the argument. The system is broken whether they have other options or not. Yes, if they want to be pros they have to join the system. Isn't this the same as med school or law school for people that want to be "pros" as doctors or lawyers? You either join the respective system or you find something else to do. Again, I agree with your view, just don't think the ide of whether other options exist does much for the position.

Answered 08/22/11 13:36:49 by Dan Le Batard

A: i suppose we could argue whether the law system or medical systems are broken but i don't think anyone agrees by consensus that the only WAY to get into law or medicine is broken....

Q: I am listening to Friday's podcast at the moment and they replayed the MC Hammer interview where Stugotz infuriates him and you say "Oh, no" when you realize it has gotten out of hand. Your reaction was great. On a side note, I hope your family is doing okay.
