Q: after watchn da central - nw game i still think central will be in state championship game! whats your thoughts on that and also whats your thoughts on the refs during that game ?

A: The refs called it very tight on both sides. Central once again had the overall more talented team and lost again. And it had nothing to do with the refs. These were procedure penalties, offsides, false starts, stuff that shouldn't happen in week 6 of the season. I've seen nothing to make me thing it won't be the same story if they play again in the playoffs.

Q: Are there any records kept on the number recruits who sign every year in Miami-Dade? I figure that this yr might have more signee's than in 08 and maybe a record number of qualifiers. What do you say on that?

A: Great back, fast in the open field and very elusive in a tight spot. The only thing that may hurt him from going somewhere major is he's undersized. But I think he can be a force at the next level at the right school. Maybe a mid-major conference team.

A: I think they did for most of the game, since South Dade fell behind by 20 points and then had to battle back. That being said, the Bucs dropped a TD pass that would have won it in the final minute when they played Southridge. Looks like the Battle for Lucy Street will be intense as always.

Q: Can you tell me your side of what exactly happened at the Homestead vs Southridge game! I am hearing rumors of refs making questionable calls in favor of Southridge.For example, White hat ref being overturned by a side ref on Southridge sideline(many times). I heard Homestead had a touchdown ruled back & FG ruled no good that was clearly good! What happened??????

A: I wasn't there. Justin Azpiazu covered the game for us. I just see a lot of complaints about the officials, but I couldn't tell you without having seen it myself.

Q: Generally speaking, along with grading STA, how do you think the season would have gone so far for both STA and Southwest figuring Lamarcus Joyner did not transfer and coach Burrows staying?

A: I think STA would still have a chance to be in the position they are in within Florida, although they probably would not have beaten Byrnes without him. Southwest would still be in contention to win another district title with him still making plays like that. Burrows as you see has Southridge in prime position to win District 16-6A.

Q: Saw you answered a question regarding Killian Football and problems with their Coaching staff. I'm wondering what you've heard regarding their Baseball Team? Rumors abound that Coach Herrera is in big trouble for recruiting violations. As with Football it is Killian parents who are doing the complaining.

A: I think you answered your own question, they'd have to come up with a win like that. I'd give them a shot if they play a clean game meaning no turnovers and can keep that BTW offense sidelined for a long time.

Q: Why doesn't the Herald report on the local JV teams as do some other hometown papers? Most of their games are during the week when there is not much else going on. It would be great to follow kids and teams throughout high school, not just on the varsity level when alot of schools bring in the recruits. There are some great JV teams that are dominate and are arguably better than alot of the varsity teams out there. A little recognition would be benficial in keeping these athletes going in their sports through the varsity level and beyond.

A: Coaches are sent ballots to vote for kids to make All-County. they submit those and the votes are tallied and a team is formed.

A: I heard they were having issues with parents early on that weren't satisfied with the team's performance. I wonder if they're still mad after that blowout win against NMB last week.

Q: With a 2-2 record and against 2 excellent ball clubs South Dade is set to roll. A few adjustments and they could be playing in December ...what do you think??

A: I think they could easily end up 8-2 if they beat Homestead at the end of the year. If that happens, they'll play them or Southridge in the 2nd round.

Q: Now SR did beat Sd in a great game, but whats with the cake schedule. I mean How do they plan to compete in the playoff or even in the district by playing the weakest schedule in Southridge history. To be honest if you gave the former head coach this schedule they would be pretty impressive too. My son had to play columbus, coral gables, booker T, and northwestern, who did that schedule.. please unconfuse me

A: The schedule changes every 2 years, I know the GMAC arranges the dates and times, but the schools arrange who they play non-district. It could be a financial concern since they seem to be playing teams closer to the school. THe only north team they play is Carol City in week 11

A: I picked Southridge by 1 point only because they've been a little more battle tested so far. But Homestead is eager to score a big win so I wouldn't be surprised if they did. The Broncos still have to beat South Dade at the end to win the district. If the Spartans win this one, you can pencil them in as the likely champion.
